Installation procedure
INFO

Installation must only be carried out by a trained and qualified electrician!
Observe the safety instructions in the operating manual for the inverter, battery and energy meter.
Some inverter settings require a service password, which you can obtain by registering as an installer in the KOSTAL Terminal.
Before carrying out any work on the devices or supply cables, the power supply in the house, the inverter and the battery must be completely disconnected from the mains. Please refer to the relevant operating instructions for the respective devices.
The following steps are necessary to connect several KOSTAL inverters:
- Install all KOSTAL inverters in the house network (see installation overview).
- Install the energy meter at the grid connection point (see installation overview).
- Connect the MDC host inverter to the energy meter (KEM or KSEM) via the RS485 interface.
- Configure a PLENTICORE G3 inverter as an MDC host.
- Configure all other inverters as MDC client inverters.
- Connect all devices to the internet via LAN. The communication connection between the MDC clients and the MDC host must be established via LAN and not via WLAN. It is best to use the bridge connection in the inverter for this purpose.
- Optional: On the inverters to which a battery is connected, configure this via the battery settings (e.g. the min. state of charge SoC).
- Optional: Set feed-in limitation/power limitation for the grid connection point in the MDC host inverter.
- Optional: Activate the Modbus protocol in the MDC host inverters for external control, if necessary.
- Optional: Activate digital inputs (e.g. for ripple control receivers (RSE), control box (FNN)) in the MDC host to use curtailment in accordance with §14a and EE §9. The host distributes the received signals to the MDC client inverters and ensures correct curtailment.
- Activate data transmission to the KOSTAL Solar Portal in all KOSTAL inverters.
- Assign all KOSTAL inverters in the KOSTAL Solar Portal to the same PV system.
