Operating mode

INFO

Info

The settings in this menu can only be configured after logging in as the installer.

The connected system components are selected when the inverter is commissioned for the first time.

If the selection needs to be changed at a later date, e.g. because a battery has been added, the initial commissioning can be restarted here. As soon as the Change operating mode button is pressed, the device is restarted and the initial commissioning must then be carried out again.

Under Operating mode, select which components are to be included in the initial setup (PV generators, installed energy meter, connected battery, a connected backup unit manually or automatically).

Parameter

Explanation

PV strings

PV generators are connected to the inverter.

Energy meter

An energy meter is fitted at the grid connection point and communicates with the inverter (e.g. a KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter).

Battery

A battery is connected to the inverter.

BackUp Switch

A Manual BackUp Switch from KOSTAL, which disconnects the public grid from the house grid, has been fitted at the grid connection point. The manual switch transmits the status of the changeover to the inverter via a signal cable.

Backup box

An automatic backup box, which disconnects the public grid from the house grid, has been fitted at the grid connection point. The automatic backup box transmits the status of the changeover to the inverter via a signal cable.

Information about MDC

For inverters that have been configured as MDC clients or MDC hosts, information about the configuration is displayed here.

  • MDC: Host
The inverter has been configured as an MDC host without extended battery control. The MDC host can take over control of other MDC client inverters without a battery. In this case, a battery may only be connected to the MDC host.
  • MDC: Host with battery control
The inverter has been configured as an MDC host with battery control. The MDC host can take over control of other MDC clients with a connected battery.
  • MDC: Client
The inverter has been configured as an MDC client and can be controlled by an MDC host inverter.
  • No display
The inverter is configured without MDC as a stand-alone device (stand-alone inverter).
